Maginus 'Makes a Quantum Leap' with Maginus ERP & ecommerce

by Ernie Schell, Director of Marketing Systems Analysis

The December issue of Catalogue & e-Business contains a review of Maginus ERP by Ernie Schell.  Here's a short extract from the full article:

"In the last year or two, Maginus has transformed itself dramatically from an ambitious contender in the direct commerce order management and fulfilment systems (OMFS) marketplace to a truly enabling and mature solution that should be considered a market leader.

This is due to a number of factors. A changing of the guard has put a new management team in key positions. The core solution, now called Maginus ERP, has been significantly reworked and its functionality extended; the Maginus suite now includes an extremely robust eCommerce solution. The company offers the option of hosted versions of its applications through its “Managed Services. Moreover, Maginus has structured its solutions to provide a highly integrated multichannel platform to support orders from the call centre, the Web, trade counter, retail locations and mobile phones.

eCommerce Competence
A number of OMFS vendors offer an eCommerce module, but none are more successful at configuring such an option as Maginus."

The article concludes:

'As for the rest....

Maginus ERP includes a full financial/accounting module, with user-definable accounting periods and the ability to write to closed periods. The robust reporting offers both on-line analytical planning (OLAP) -data cubes with drill-down capability - and user-managed dashboards to show Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).

Maginus has about 100 installs fairly evenly split between B2C and B2B, with 25 percent managing major retail facilities. It is an ‘enterprise’ system with an ‘enterprise’ price tag, starting at over £100,000. The solution is clearly worth the money, though, if you need the breadth and depth of what it has to offer. Training and support are both well-managed, and Maginus is willing and able to work closely with you to configure the system to support growth – or to facilitate the most profitable allocation of resources and boosting average order value in a challenging economy. It’s not how much you invest, but what the investment yields by way of results that really counts."
